Cranford, NJ – Today, Dr. Steve Brozak, President of WBB Securities, moderated a panel at Biotech Showcase 2026 titled “Working with ARPA-H: Federal Investment in Biotech & Healthcare Innovation.” The session took place in San Francisco and focused on the growing role of federal investment in advancing healthcare and biotechnology innovation.
The panel brought together senior leaders from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), each with deep experience spanning scientific research, government innovation, and product development:
- Jessica Green, PhD, Program Manager, Resilient Systems at ARPA-H, is an expert in microbiome science and healthy building design. Prior to joining ARPA-H, she was the founding CTO and CEO of Phylagen and a professor of biology at the University of Oregon, where she co-founded and directed the Biology and Built Environment Center.
- Natalie Kates, Acting Director, Scalable Solutions at ARPA-H, brings extensive experience in health-tech product development and public-sector innovation. She previously founded the Health team at the U.S. Digital Service and has led complex initiatives across multiple U.S. administrations.
- Paul Sheehan, PhD, Program Manager, Resilient Systems at ARPA-H, joined the agency from DARPA’s Biological Technologies Office. He previously spent 16 years at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory and holds a doctorate in chemical physics from Harvard University. His research has been widely cited and featured in major publications.
The discussion explored how ARPA-H approaches federal investment in healthcare innovation and how industry participants can engage with government programs to help translate breakthrough science into meaningful, real-world impact.
